5. Team dynamics and final projet#
This module present some technics to find problem and solutions. It also describes the team dynamics chosen by my teammates and me.
5.1 Project Analysis and Design#
This video made by the European Union show why and how to make a problem tree and solutions trees.
As we can see this tree is a bit difficult to make as the problematic influence itself quite a bit.
5.2. Group formation and brainstorming on project problems#
We had to form group for the final project and for that, we all gatered in a hall with object that represent something important to us.
My object#
Energy is something that I find fascinating. We can move our body, but we could never move a tractor with the energy our body produce. And yet we use so much energy all day without really understanding the amount consumed. When I was at the age where setting everything on fire was for “science”, I lit up a spaghetti. I knew that we don’t absorb the same quantity of heat than generated by burning it, but I found it nonetheless impressive as the heat was… hot.
I’m also very sensitive to the issue of pollution and the transition to soft mobility in the city. These two subject are in agreement.
Group creation#
We had to wander through classmate and ask about their items. When each of us were in a team of four people with interesting object to us, teams were fixed.
Team members#
Once upon a time, there was a cable, a funnel, a paste and a blanket.
- Eva Dubar
- Object: Ethernet cable to symbolyse cybersecurity.
- Eliott Fontaine
- Object: funnel to raise awareness of water distribution services and privatization.
- Gala Toscano-Aguilar
- Object: blanket representing the needs of homeless people.
- Me, Milan Bontridder
- Object: a pasta and a lighter to represent the need to raise awareness to energy measurement scale so that people don’t say numbers of consumed energy without representing to themself what it means. Who knows, maybe it could help to reduce energy consumption.
Problems listed#
Here the list of problem identified by team members with a short description and
- How to redistribute lodgment in an equitable way ?
- description: Sometimes, lodgment are kept empty due to legal or ownership disputes. Even with empty lodgment, there can still be a housing shortage in a city, leading to a continued need for more lodgment options. Ever more building load to a suffocation city.

- How to avoid water privatization ?

- How to raise awareness to energy consumption ?

- How to raise awareness to the problems caused by internet security ignorance ?

- How to make a map of polluted area in a city ?
- description: I, as someone who move only by bike, know where the air is so polluted that it is sometime necessary to hold my breath. Interestingly enough, as an example, where the air is extremely polluted is very often is front of primary school. Making a map of polluted area could enable us to take measure in precise area (like ban cars in front of school)
- importance: 3 votes
As we can see, we agree with each other concerning importance of the problems listed here.
5.3 Group dynamics#
There exist multiple project group dynamic. To optimize the project realization, we made some decision together.
Fear list#
Before that, each one of us made a list of the fears we have that could occur during the project realization. Based on this, we made the following list:
- Keep in mind to listen to each one of us constantly.
- To find a subject for which everyone is motivated for.
- To keep it going.
- Keeping a talking time tracker.
Role#
We chose to attribute, in a rotary fashion, role to each member.
- Facilitator: Their role is to facilitate communication and collaboration within the group.
- Time Management: This person ensures that the group’s meetings and activities respect the established deadlines.
- Secretary: They take note of the discussions and decisions made during the meetings.
- Atmosphere checker: This person looks after the emotional well-being of the group members, promotes a positive environment, and encourages team cohesion.
To make decision, each one of us has an infinite amount of veto.
